Microsoft gets on the grid | Tech News on ZDNet

[News.zdnet.com] Microsoft's main product in the grid computing area is Windows Server 2003 Compute Cluster Edition, which aims to be a more viable alternative to Linux. At the company's Professional Developers Conference in September, Microsoft released a beta version of Windows Compute Cluster Solution, which is tuned for 64-bit processors and includes a job scheduler.

Grid & Virtualization: Different sides of different coins

 [West Coast Grid] Virtual machines (like EMC's VMWare or Virtual Iron's Virtual Iron) permit the former by allowing you to run several copies of the OS on one machine, effectively partitioning it. The best part about this from the application's perspective is that it doesn't even know it's running on a virtual server--it thinks it has the machine to itself.

This is an important question because the answer is vital to help understand how technical evangelism will mature. At its root the question is asking, "Why was technical evangelism invented?"
