[Comments for Tech Interviews] Basic .NET and ASP.NET interview questions @ Tech Interviews.com: This makes the PreRender step a good place to make final modifications, such as changing properties of controls or changing Control Tree structure, without having to worry about ASP.NET making changes to objects based off of database calls or viewstate updates. After the PreRender phase those changes to objects are locked in and can no longer be saved to the page viewstate.

[Matt Berseth] Matt Berseth: Getting jQuery Goodness into ASP.NET AJAX - Take II: Gday Matt - I might be missing something, but in answer to your first point on "A more powerful selector", do you get around not knowing ASP.NET IDs beforehand by just adding classes to your controls, and then identify them by class to JQuery? I tend to do this and leave the auto-generated IDs alone.

In my own website, I'm trying to figure out how to create a pop-up window that has a report viewer control invoked via a button click inside the ASP.NET MVC "/Home/Reports"

[Encosia] Why ASP.NET AJAX UpdatePanels are dangerous | Encosia: On the server, the whole page lifecycle occurs, soup to nuts, before the asp.net ajax engine steps in to parse the response into the pipe-delimited format that updatepanels expect on the client. On the client, the browser’s javascript engine has to then take that response and parse it out to all the updatepanels on the page, which decide whether to update or not based on the parameters you’ve set, among other things.

[Rick Strahl's Web Log] More MS Ajax Pain - Rick Strahl's Web Log: For the WebMethods having to be static, it was convenient to be able to use the Page context in the WebMethod, but after thinking about it, does't it cause the Page instance to stay in scope and not be garbage collected since it has to wait for a call from the client (For how long?), ASP.NET does not know how long the client browser is open or how many times the method will be called, if you have a lot of requests for that page, you could end up wasting a lot of memory.
