Gridget > Evolution of grid computing architecture and grid adoption models
[Research.ibm.com] There are important architectural implications related to the grid adoption model, in light of the fact that all distributed systems require developers (of both infrastructure and applications) to consider the unpredictable latency of remote access. This means developers must take into account issues of concurrency and the possibility of partial failure.1 Grid computing aims to resolve these complexities of distributed computing through a well-defined architecture that is aligned with SOA, autonomic-computing principles,2 and open standards for integration and interoperability.

[Blogs.sun.com] Victoria's Weblog: Nowadays, architecture is a household name in the industry, and elsewhere - marketing, sales and HR departments have people titled architects, producing "architectures", or "marketectures", or, I imagine, "hracitectures"... One of really great things that came out of this whole thing is that a relatively small number of people who are true software architects can now go on about their business without needing to constantly justify to their bosses the choice of goals, methods, tools and a title.
