[XGRID تکÙÙÙÙÚÛ] Grid resource management is the process of identifying requirements, matching resources to applications, allocating those resources, and scheduling and monitoring Grid resources over time in order to run Grid applications as efficiently as possible. While Grids have become almost commonplace, the use of good Grid resource management tools is far from ubiquitous because of the many open issues of the field, including the multiple layers of schedulers, the lack of control over resources, the fact that resources are shared, and that users and administrators have conflicting performance goals.

[Features] Grid Computing - An Option for Large Scale Spatial Data ...: A Grid infrastructure's capability to present users with the processing power of thousands of Central Processing Units (CPU) and the ability to store vast amounts of data make it an ideal platform to perform these tasks in an acceptable amount of time and with the much-needed reliability. The potential advantages include:Means to share storage and computing resources between the members of a so-called virtual organization, therefore reducing the initial costs of hardware acquisition Means to react to an increasing demand for storage and computing resources on the flyMeans to handle all transactions securely and reliably.

[ERCIM News] Workflow Management Systems for Grid Computing: Similar models are used for the configuration of the process perspective of Grid middleware (in our case a mixture of Globus and YAWL). On the other hand, we collect event logs via the middleware layer and use these for process mining, process discovery (automatically deriving models by observing the Grid), conformance checking (to check whether 'the Grid' is behaving as expected) and model extension (eg to project performance indicators onto a process model).

Grid interoperability can be achieved by means of common, ideally standard, grid interfaces, whose existence is an important (if not essential) characteristic of grid systems.
[RightScale Blog] Cloud Computing vs. Grid Computing « RightScale Blog: I see cloud computing as a natural evolution of concepts in Grid computing. We/I (globus) have been working on mechanisms for lease-based resource provisioning (as opposed to job management with resource provisioning treated as a side-effect) for a long time now: this investigation was motivated by grid computing scenarios and applications and targeted at solving specific problems that Grid users experienced.
[IT Security] IT Security » Blog Archive » Grid Computing Hacking: The real challange of grid hacking which makes differences with the other kind of hacking is how to pwn as many headnodes as possible using trusteeship between headnodes. Remember a headnode trusts the other headnode because valid Host CAs are installed on them, so we can execute any arbitrary operating system commands in remote headnode through compromised one without password if the subject of our User CA is mapped in the remote headnode.

A widely distributed virtual infrastructure, inspired in the federation of cloud systems as providers of virtualized resources (hardware) as a service, would not require end users to learn new interfaces and port their applications to the expected runtime environment.
